Work injuries are very common because people spend a majority of their time at work. Most of the injuries our chiropractor sees at the clinic fall into three main categories: Desk related injuries, repetitive motion injuries and accidental injuries related to machinery or high risk occupations. Our Chiropractors use many non-surgical chiropractic methods to treat occupational injuries in Clifton, Newark and the surrounding areas of East Orange, Ironbound and Irvington.
Desk related injuries are very common because the human spine wasn't designed to sit immobile for long periods of time as is required by most white-collar occupations. Non-ergonomically designed furniture, poor posture and sedentary lifestyles outside of work further contribute to produce chronic back pain. Immobility also reduces elasticity and mobility in all the soft tissues. Additional work related stress and fatigue further exacerbates the situation and combines to create back and neck pain, radiating leg pain and other serious chiropractic symptoms.
Repetitive motion injuries are another common form of work related injury. Many people are required to constantly repeat the same task as part of their occupation. This is unnatural for the body and over time the repetitive motion causes muscular imbalance. Unless a careful conditioning physical therapy program is adopted to build up the opposing muscle groups, the bones and soft tissues will eventually become susceptible to injury. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most famous repetitive motion injury but there are many others. Factory workers are a high-risk group because they are often required to execute the same motion again and again. Back pain, arm pain and shoulder pain are all common complaints among factory workers. Nurses and construction workers repeatedly lift heavy objects on a daily basis and back pain is common in both professions.
Accidental work injuries occur daily from using heavy machinery, dangerous tools, lifting and falling. Many occupations are inherently dangerous and despite employer precautions, accidents frequently occur. Back injuries and back pain is frequently seen in physically demanding jobs like shelf stocking and landscaping. These jobs are not only physically taxing on the back but they are also difficult on the extremities and can lead to chronic arm and leg pain and shoulder issues.
Our Chiropractors are focused on total body wellness. He will help you to understand how your injury occurred in the first place and show you how to prevent further occupational injuries in the future. Most insurance companies and private companies in Clifton, Newark, East Orange, Ironbound and Irvington now pay for chiropractic care.
We use a variety of spinal manipulations called "adjustments" to improve back problems and spinal alignment. We also use Spinal Decompression Therapy to increase soft tissue elasticity and facilitate natural motion in the spine. Several scientific studies have shown that Spinal Decompression is very effective for treating herniated discs, shoulder pain and leg and arm pain.
In addition, our chiropractor uses a wide range of other treatments to improve your injury such as physical therapy, massage and life-style counseling. Our goal is to create a comprehensive program that will cure your injury and get you back to work.
